When is the best time to visit Tanzania?

  • The answer vastly depends on what you are coming to Tanzania for. Generally Tanzania is a nice destination year round. There are two rainy seasons—the heaviest rains (called masika) usually fall from mid-March to May, and a shorter period of rain (called vuli) occurs from November to mid-January. The dry season, with cooler temperatures, lasts from May to October.
    The Great Migration
    Usually the best time to see the great migration is July – November. The Wildebeest, Zebra, and gazelles move in a clockwise motion from the low planes of the Serengeti, up to the Masai Mara(Kenya), and back down in search for greener pastures.
    Beach Vacations – Zanzibar is nice year round but the best time to visit is during the regions dry season.

What do you need to travel to Tanzania?

  • The majority of travelers coming to Tanzania require a visa, although this is not always the case. Refer to https://immigration.go.tz/index.php/entry-requirements for a full list of exempt countries and specific entry requirements.
    For most travelers, upon arrival to Tanzania you will need to…
    *Present proof of covid-19 vaccination
    *Obtain a visa from an immigration officer. This can be done in advance or at the airport in person.
    *Produce your passport or other acceptable document to an Immigration Officer
    *Produce a return ticket or evidence of onward travel arrangement

Safari packing list?

  • NOTE: As of June 1, 2019, plastic bags of any kind are not allowed in Tanzania.  This includes
    Shopping/grocery bags,  Duty-free bags,  Ziploc baggies,  Garbage bags. This is not always enforced but we advise staying safe and not bringing them with you. Don’t risk a fine

  • What to pack for your Tanzania Safari
    BACKPACK – Its good to bring a small backpack to have your important belongings with you in the vehicle.
    WARM SWEATER OR LIGHT FLEECE. – Evenings and early morning it can be a little chilly. Its always good to have another layer you can throw on if you are cold.
    WINDBREAKER OR WATERPROOF JACKET  – Surprise! Its raining now. the weather can change within a few minutes
    COMFORTABLE SHOES
    WALKING SHOES OR BOOTS LONG SLEEVE SHIRT/DRESS SHIRT.
    try to stay away from cotton.

    In some occasions you want to have a closer look and if you have your own binoculars you can see more details. Each safari vehicle is equipped with binoculars but if you want to bring your own you may.
    PLUG ADAPTORS – Africa is generally 3-prong round or square, like the UK.
    MEDICATIONS
    –  Any prescribed or any other medicine you will need. Allergy remedy, pain reliever,  antiseptic cream, motion sickness tablets, heartburn remedy, anti-diarrhea medicine, cold/flu tablets.

Is Tanzania Safe?

  • Unpleasant experiences rarely happen on safari. Our guides have lived in Tanzania for their whole life or for many years and are more than capable of taking care of you. We only hire the best. Each of our vehicles is equipped with a satellite phone and emergency SOS beacon in case of emergencies. All safari persons that safari with us are covered by medical air evacuation Insurance. 

I have kids. Is a safari a family friendly Holiday?

  • Absolutely! We have specially curated safari packages that are meant for families. These include a mix of activities for you to enjoy, and some geared more towards children. The only time bringing children would be more challenging is if you plan on doing a lot of walking excursions or plan on climbing Kilimanjaro.

What is provided/not provided?

  • When you book with us everything is included except for souvenirs. Lodging and food/water will be coordinated for you and will be included in the price.

Can special diets be accommodated?

  • Generally yes, we can accommodate most special diets. If you require a special diet, please contact us before you book your adventure so we can plan accordingly.

Can I make my own itinerary?

  • Absolutely! Custom Safaris make up 90% of our excursions. Our safari agents can personalize any safari experience to your liking. We have years of experience traveling around Tanzania. Over the years we have made many good relationships with lodges, hotels, and officials in the Tanzania National Parks Authority. If you want to customize your experience, do not hesitate to contact us so we can discuss your perfect experience.

What Language is spoken in Tanzania?

  • Swahili is the national language of Tanzania. Each one of our guides speak english and can help translate whenever you need.

How safe is the water and food in Tanzania?

  • The food in Tanzania is generally safe.  The only place you would encounter concerns is street food.  We recommend staying away from meat based street food while in TZ.
    We strongly recommend not drinking the tap water in Tanzania due to infrastructure issues. Only drink bottled purified water. While on safari with us, Purified water is provided free of charge.

Vaccinations and Malaria Information?

  • The WHO recommend the following vaccinations for Tanzania: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, rabies, Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis).
    Because malaria is prevalent in Tanzania we strongly recommend bringing Malaria tablets. These can be obtained by seeing your primary care physician 

How should I get to you once in Tanzania?

  • Airport pickup is included in every safari package. One of our experienced drivers will pick you up from where your arrival airport. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
