Arrive in Kigoma and transfer to Mahale Mountains National Park. After a brief orientation, take a boat trip to the park’s headquarters where you will be greeted by your guide. After checking in, you will have the rest of the afternoon to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
After an early breakfast, set out for a full day of chimpanzee tracking in Mahale Mountains. The park is home to one of the largest and most habituated populations of chimpanzees in the world, and tracking them through the forest is a truly incredible experience. Your guide will provide detailed information about the chimpanzees and their behavior as you observe them in their natural habitat. After a picnic lunch, return to the car for some more tracking. In the early evening, return to camp for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, transfer by boat to Gombe Stream National Park, the location of Jane Goodall’s pioneering research on chimpanzees. Check in at the park’s guesthouse, and then set out for a full day of chimpanzee tracking in Gombe. The park’s chimpanzees are also well-habituated and you will have the opportunity to see them up close and personal.
After breakfast, take a guided nature walk in Gombe Stream National Park. The park is also home to a wide variety of other wildlife including Colobus monkeys, baboons, bush pigs, and bushbuck. After lunch, return to the camp for a relaxing afternoon.
After breakfast, transfer by boat to Kigoma for your return flight.
